The Headless Lab – Four Day Residential

An experiment in seeing together

These Labs are rooted in something simple: your own direct experience. Not theory. Not belief. Just what you actually recognise when you look for yourself. This is the basis of the Headless Way a method of self-inquiry developed by Douglas Harding.

Karin and Amaranatho facilitate each Lab, inviting you to spend four days with an international group willing to look for themselves and build the lab together.

Each Lab has a theme. The theme in October will be:

A New Vision of Stress

We all know stress. Most of us have spent considerable energy trying to manage it, reduce it, escape it, or at least make an uneasy peace with it. But what if there is more to the picture than we usually see? Not a denial of stress but a widening of the view to include something we have been overlooking. This Lab takes its inspiration from Douglas Harding’s book “Heading Off Stress” It approaches stress not as a problem to be solved but as an invitation to look more carefully at who is experiencing it.

In this Lab you are invited to discover, through direct experience and community, something about who you are that is already here, already available, and that may quietly change the way everything else looks.

What you may find is radical, simple, and verifiable right now: you are built stress-free.

This is not a stress management course. No breathing techniques. No coping strategies. No protocols. It is an inquiry into the nature of stress.

The Lab Includes

  • Guided Experiments Direct experiments from the Headless Way.
  • Inquiry Into Harding’s Vision of Stress Based on “Heading Off Stress”, testing its findings through direct experience rather than discussion. (You don’t need to have read the book, but you can, of course.)
  • Open Reflection Space for insight as well as difficulty.
  • Unstructured Time Meals, walks, conversation, rest. Where integration often quietly happens.
  • The Social Experiment What does it mean to actually be in community resting in who you really are?

Is This For You?

This Lab may be right for you if:

  • You’re drawn to an approach to stress that goes to the root rather than the symptom
  • You want to explore the Headless Way in community, not just in private practice
  • You’re new to the Headless Way and want an immersive introduction
  • You’re curious about what lies beneath the story of who you are
  • You want to be in a room with people who are curious about these questions

The only prerequisite is a willingness to look honestly at what you find.

When and Where

The Labs is from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October in the Netherlands and close to the German border and easy to get to.
